
As fires on the Greek island of Rhodes raged for a sixth day amid high temperatures, thousands of locals have been evacuated as stranded tourists scramble to return home. See below the situation through photos:

People evacuated from their homes are sheltered in a sports hall in Venetokleio in Rhodes. About 19,000 people have been evacuated from the island to safety as the fires continued to spread for a sixth day, authorities said on Sunday.
