In his 15th podcast, Edi Rama invited the doctor Gentian Toshkëzi, who has been rated as "America's Best Doctor" and during the conversation with him, he told an emotional story and a difficult moment for his family: His son Greg's battle with cancer .
Edi Rama said that at that time Greg was only 15 years old and that the doctors had told him that he had no hope of living:
"We had a serious case in the family with the boy, he was 15 years old at the time, and they cut him to pieces and for me it was very shocking, even after we were told, I tell the doctor who followed him and took him out of the clutches of death, try to tell her," said the country's prime minister
.
Further, it continued:
"Let me do my job," he said and sat in front of him and said: "You have death in your body. In the situation you are in, you only have a 30% chance to survive and that is called cancer, but the other 30% is the person. If you are willing to fight and make this 30% and 30% probability available to me, we go to 60% to 40%. Now tell me, - he said, are you ready to fight?'' This was more or less the tone that mobilized him", said Rama, showing the great strength of his son, who today enjoys full health.
The prime minister also shared moments he witnessed with the doctors who treated Greg, saying they prayed for the recovery of his son and other children suffering from cancer.
Edi Rama said that at one point he asked the doctor who was taking care of Greg why he was praying, when she is a man of science and she told him: "She told me: "On this floor", (there was the floor where the children with cancer were), I have seen things that science has not been able to explain to me even today, therefore I must turn to that force that I don't know what it is, call it what you want, but that exists".
