France is to introduce a scheme for clothing and footwear repairs to reduce waste and pollution from the textile industry.
According to the scheme, which was announced by the Secretary of State for Ecology, Bérangère Couillard, the discounts range from 6 euros to 25 euros and will be available depending on the issue of clothing or accessories.
This scheme aims to encourage people to repair, for example, damaged shoes, instead of throwing them away.
Couillard said the textile industry was the second most polluting industry in the world.
The Ministry of Ecology has instructed a private French organization called Refashion for the initiative. Customers will have the relevant price deducted from their invoice and Refashion will then reimburse the tailors or repair shops.
