Zayn Malik is ready to return to the limelight. He appeared on an episode of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast.
“Since I have a baby, the main thing on my mind is trying to be a good example for her,” says Malik, who has daughter Khai, 2, with model Gigi Hadid, in a recap video of the podcast episode .
In a conversation with moderator Alex Cooper in the first interview in six years, Zayn said that the reason he is giving an interview is his daughter.
"Do you know the reason why I am doing this interview? I used to be very anxious to have a conversation like this. I want her to be able to look at me and say, 'Look, my dad is making it.'"
The Pillowtalk singer, 30, admitted that his outlook on life has changed since Khai was born in September 2020.
"There's a certain point in adult life where everything is dull and gray and boring and she's brought the colors back for me for sure," he added.
Zayn and Gigi first met in 2015 at a Victoria's Secret party. Since then, they had an on-and-off relationship for almost six years.
In October 2021, they ended their relationship after an argument between Zayn and Gigi's mother, Yolanda Hadid.
At the time, she claimed Malik pushed her. But despite Zayn denying the charge and pleading no contest to the charges, he was sentenced to nearly a year of probation and domestic violence and anger management programs.
Since then, Zayn and Gigi have been co-parenting their daughter.
