Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef announced that they were divorcing after 6 years of marriage, in a joint statement on social networks, and according to a close friend of the singer, the couple had an open relationship for a long time.
"Like many couples, Ricky and Jwan had an open relationship for most of their marriage," the source told the Daily Mail, adding that the open relationship worked until the couple decided to divorce.
Further, he clarified:
"None of them fell in love with anyone else. Sex was something they engaged in together and shared with other partners."
Ricky (51 years old) and painter Jwan (38 years old) have not yet spoken in detail about the decision to divorce.
So far it is said that Martin will keep their house, but Yosef will not miss anything and will never have to worry about finances.
The couple has two children, daughter Lucia and son Renn. Also, Martin is the father of two twins, Matteo and Valentino, 14 years old.
Martin has never commented on the open relationship with Yosef, but in an interview for "Vulture" he expressed that he hoped that open relationships would be normalized, referring to his role in the series "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story", in who played Antonio D'Amico, Versace's lover, and they had an open relationship.
