Growing evidence shows that strengthening your leg muscles can have heart benefits and may even improve symptoms after a heart attack.
According to a scientific study, "Heart Failure 2023", conducted by the European Society of Cardiology, the stronger the leg muscles are, the less risk people have of having heart problems.
The results have not been published in a peer-reviewed journal, but highlight the importance of regular exercise and muscle strengthening in older people, as muscle mass can decrease with age, affecting perhaps in cardiovascular health.
After a heart attack, known as a myocardial infarction, the heart may go through a process known as myocardial remodeling or cardiac remodeling, in which fibrous tissue accumulates, causing the heart to enlarge.
New evidence suggests that cardiac rehabilitation with exercise can reverse the recovery process by improving heart function.
