Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida fired his son after photos emerged of a private party at the official residence.
His eldest son, Shotaro, will step down as executive policy secretary after criticism for using the leader's official residence for a private party.
Photos published by the weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun showed Shotaro and about 10 of his relatives posing or lying down on the mansion's symbolically important steps, mimicking a government cabinet.

In December last year, photos emerged of several people standing on a podium as if holding a press conference.

"As [the prime minister's] political affairs secretary, a public position, his actions were inappropriate and I decided to replace him to take responsibility," the prime minister announced.
It is not the first time that Shotaro, 32, has been criticized for abuse of office. In January, while accompanying his father, he was reprimanded for using embassy cars for private trips to Britain and Paris and for buying souvenirs for cabinet members at a luxury store in London.
