Soprano Ermonela Jaho has touched nationwide stages, but again, she felt the moral obligation to return to Albania, to offer her experience in an open masterclass. She came to her country but was disappointed by the attendance and lack of faculty and art students.
Ermonela spoke about this "lack of interest" in art and opera in Albania, but did not rule out the possibility that perhaps the lecturers do not allow students to take her lessons.
"I'm saying it bluntly: I came here and I didn't see a single teacher from the Academy of Arts. I came here and I didn't see any students registering. I am not saying that I am bringing something extraordinary, or that I want to fight someone here, and these students who have come are from abroad", she said.
Further, it continued:
"I'm so busy, so I have a lot to say. I think this is also a kind of selfishness. I tried this 30 years ago, but it still seems to me today. A lecturer will not give you 100%", she said and added that perhaps the students are absent because the lecturers do not allow them.
He also spoke about the opportunities Albanian students have to be competitive in the world:
"I come here with unconditional love, because I put myself in the place of these artists. Let them be given a hope, because it is sad when you hear that they have studied for 10-15 years and are not competitive with the world".
Ajo ndau edhe përvojën e saj në karrierë, duke nisur që nga shkolla e deri te sakrificat për t’ia dalë: “Shkolla jonë të jep diçka. Mua më ka dhënë diçka. Më vonë unë e kam mësuar me luftë, me torturë, me çdo gjë, me një sakrficë të madhe dhe kam shkuar jashtë (për ta) marrë”.
Ermonela shtoi edhe se si artiste, e ndien si detyrim moral që të sjellë në Shqipëri përvojën e saj: “Është detyrimi ynë si artistë të rritur këtu që të marrim eksperiencën jashtë dhe ta sjellim këtu, se kemi talente dhe zëra të bukur, por nuk kanë disiplinën, nuk janë të konkurrueshëm”.
Ajo u shpreh se në masterclass-in e parë, ka vënë re frikën e studentëve që paraqiteshin, por kishin siklet se mos u thoshtë ndonjë gjë pedagogu dhe theksoi se nuk ka ardhur të konkurrojë askënd, përkundrazi, të japë kontributin e saj si artiste.
"I tell you with all my heart! It's not like I came here to criticize anyone. Perfection does not exist. I put my stone. Give me one of your stones and (so) stone by stone, let's build something", said Ermonela Jaho.
