After Chlöe Bailey released her album In Pieces and sold only 10,000 units of the album , fans took to social media to blame her mentor, Beyoncé, for not promoting the album online.
Album units - with online music streaming these days, calculating album sales becomes somewhat more difficult. Billboard calculates that 1,500 streams of an album count as one album sale.
Chlöe and her younger sister, Halle Bailey, are signed to Parkwood Entertainment, the company that Beyoncé founded in 2008.
“Beyoncé literally hates it. Ha ha ha did nothing. Not even a collaboration song with him. She didn't even talk about it during her tour. Chlöe should leave the label,” someone wrote.
“Beyoncé could have at least posted Chloe Bailey's album on Instagram. I mean, isn't she the artist you manage?” said another.
"I don't want to be funny, but I really want to know what was Beyoncé's point in taking Chloe into management? Just to be in control? To have it under him? I don't understand, because how do you allow your artist to release an album and not support her?" read in another comment.
Publicly, Beyoncé has not supported Chloe, but at least behind the scenes she has given her advice. "[Beyoncé] listened to the album," Chloe told ET earlier this month. "She gave me advice on it before I published it."
"I love him so much," she added. "I am extremely, very grateful to her for everything."
