Jennifer Lopez was criticized by fans for launching her alcohol brand, Delola.
J.Lo launched her beverage company inspired by the Italian coast, but the news was met with backlash from followers, who pointed out that J.Lo doesn't drink alcohol.
"I'm realizing more and more the importance of enjoying life," Lopez wrote on Instagram. "I just wanted to create something better - something with better taste, better ingredients, something that I would want to drink with my friends and family, and that's Delola."
Soon after, people were quick to comment on her decision. "Oh, wow! This is disappointing. Why create an alcoholic drink considering you talked about the negative effects of alcohol and the fact that you don't drink alcohol? This does not suit you at all. Really, I'm curious, why are you selling alcohol?” someone wrote.
Another agreed, writing: "J.Lo you don't drink alcohol. This is like something that is known and has been pointed out on many occasions. I mean…I get it - money is money - but mamasita, you don't drink alcohol . "
Among a flurry of comments expressing disappointment, one fan was curious as to why Lopez chose to start an alcohol brand considering her husband Ben Affleck's past problems with alcohol, for which he has gone to rehab several times.
"To be honest, of course it's a business and it's about money, but it just seems very strange to promote alcohol, when you've talked about how bad alcohol is and how it affects your skin and why it's not in style your living. (Not to mention Ben's past problems). But hey, we all flip the tile for money, right?” said another.
Lopez revealed that this project dates back two years, adding that Lola is a longtime nickname of hers that shows her "more playful, carefree side."
