Grimes has decided to change her daughter's name after 1 year.
In March 2022, the 35-year-old musician broke the surprise news that she and Twitter CEO Elon Musk welcomed their second child in December 2021.
"Her full name is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk," Grimes told Vanity Fair at the time, though. she said they refer to her as "Y."
What else would you expect from Grimes and Musk, who also have a two-year-old son named X Æ A-Xii? They call the boy "X" for short.
Another nickname for their daughter was "Sailor Mars," which a fan used after Grimes shared a rare photo of the little girl on Twitter on March 23. However, it appears that the little girl's name has officially been changed to her original nickname.
“She is Y now; or 'Why?' (Why); or simply '?' (but the government won't recognize it),” Grimes responded to the fan in another tweet.
Apparently, there are still some legal issues to be clarified before the name is officially "Why".
Even the boy's name was originally X Æ A-12, later they changed it to Roman numerals and made it "X Æ A-Xii", to make the name comply with California law.
No matter what Grimes calls her kids, they probably won't be able to call her "mom." Grimes says that children were a great rebirth for her, artistically, but she cannot identify with the word "mother".
