Selena Gomez admits she lied, but not for the reason you might think

Selena Gomez has stated that she lied when she said that she was not affected by negative comments about her body and admits that, in fact, she cried a lot after reading them.

"I lied. I would go online, post a picture and think, 'It doesn't matter. I will not accept what they will tell me," said the 30-year-old singer and actress in the series of "Dear..." on Apple TV+.

Selena, although she is known for her comments against people who judge her body and appearance, said that because of online taunts, she cried in her room and that "nobody deserves to hear things like that."

"I posted these things, saying they didn't bother me, because I didn't want to bother people who were going through the same thing. To make fun of the way you look, the way you are, the way you love, I just think it's unfair," she added.

The "Only Murders in the Building" star was diagnosed in 2014 with lupus* , an auto-immune disease, and said people couldn't wait to find a reason to put the artist down, despite the painful effects caused by the disease. "I was making fun because I had gained a few pounds from the lupus," she said.

Lupus* - autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissues and organs. The disease is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms – joint pain, fever, fatigue, hives – are frequent and can be explained in many ways. Lupus has no cure, but it is effectively treated.

Also, people did not leave her comfortably even on vacation, reminding her of her weight and kilos. In a video on TikTok, Selena also said that her weight changes and this, for a person suffering from lupus, happens very often. "I just wanted to say it and encourage anyone who feels the slightest bit of shame about what they are going through. I just want people to know that they are beautiful, wonderful," she said.
