With success comes problems. However, the founder of Microsoft has learned during his life how to cope with them. In a post on his blog, GatesNotes - where he addresses the Covid pandemic - Gates also touched on how he approaches the problem.
"Since I was a teenager, I've approached every new and big problem the same way: starting with two questions. I used this technique at Microsoft and still use it today. I ask these questions literally every week about Covid-19,” he writes.
The questions are:
1. Who has handled this problem well?
2. What can I learn from them?
Unlike what most of us might do when trying to solve a problem, Gates advises that before we try to solve it, we need to learn more about it. In other words, to act as a "learner" and learn from the experience of others.
It can be difficult to admit that you need to learn from others, but in many cases it can be the best solution. In other words, it's like watching a "how to unclog the sink" tutorial. Someone else has done it before you and shared this information. You just learn faster. All you have to do is research.
