Turkey fines broadcasters for critical coverage of earthquake response
Turkey's media regulator fined three broadcasters for their coverage of the earthquake that killed more than 42,000 people. Halk TV, Tele 1 and FOX received fines, calculated based on their revenue for the previous month, for reporting on shortcomings in the government's response to the earthquake.
All three channels are known for editorial lines critical of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Halk TV is strongly linked to the CHP party, Turkey's main opposition.
