The Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF) was the first and only festival in the world to propose the film "The Red Suitcase" to be nominated in the "Best Short Film" category at the 2023 Oscars.
The film "The Red Suitcase", directed by Cyrus Neshvad, was proposed only by TIFF and was selected among 94 proposals from the best festivals in the world, which, like TIFF, have the quality of "Oscar Qualifying".

Festivali Ndërkombëtar i Filmit në Tiranë (TIFF) është eventi i parë dhe më i madhi ndërkombëtar i kinematografisë në Shqipëri dhe që prej vitit 2003 shënon një ngjarje të rëndësishme për industrinë e filmit. Qëllimi i TIFF është krijimi i një pike takimi për kineastët, producentët, distributorët dhe adhuruesit e filmave.
In 2018, TIFF qualified to nominate short films at the Oscars. In May 2022, TIFF was recognized by the European Film Academy as one of the best festivals in Europe to nominate the best European short film for the next edition of the European Film Awards (EFA Awards).
"We are happy to inform you that the Tirana International Film Festival has been selected as one of the 29 best European film festivals, including Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Locarno and others, to nominate the best European film short film for the European Film Awards," announced in May 2022 the director and co-founder of TIFF, producer and cinematographer Agron Domi.
