Being a parent isn't easy, even when you're Madonna. The music icon has spoken about her challenges as a mother and says that parenting "has been the hardest battle of her life".
"Today, I'm still struggling to figure out how to be a mother and do my job properly," Madonna told Vanity Fair.
"Because, whoever you are, having a child and raising them is a work of art," she continued. "Nobody gives you a manual, you have to learn from your mistakes. It's a profession that takes a lot of time. It's exhausting, because you never rest," said the queen of pop.
Madonna is the mother of 6 children: Lourdes (26 years old), Rocco (22 years old), David (17 years old), Chifundo' Mercy (16 years old), twins Estere and Stella (10 years old).
However, Madonna is very proud of the fact that her children are happy, pursuing careers and showing their creativity, without being influenced by their mother's choices. She said that she had never "forced" her daughter to make music, or her son to paint.
"But I always introduced them to art and music. I am happy that they have found their own ways to express themselves", she said.
So, as Madonna said, parenting is perfected with experience and learning from mistakes, so the next time you're in a dilemma, remember the pop icon's words.
