Over 500 million tourists visit Europe every year, but where do they choose to go the most?
GlobalData, an analytics and consulting company, has compiled the data to find out which is the most visited country in Europe.
France is in first place . For years, France often claims the first place as the most visited country in the world and it seems that it will continue to stay in such a position.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, France was the most visited country in the world, attracting 88.1 million visitors in 2019, according to GlobalData.
What about in second place? Spain is close to France in the ranking of the most visited countries in the world. Although all countries saw a drop in visitor numbers during the Covid-19 pandemic, Spain managed to beat France to the top spot by welcoming 26.3 million visitors.
Spain claimed the top spot in 2021, but France looks set to overtake it, having welcomed 66.6 million international visitors in 2022.
GlobalData has predicted that France will attract around 93.7 million international travelers annually by 2025, cementing its title as the world's most visited country. By 2025, Spain is expected to attract 89.5 million tourists.
