Prince Harry's autobiography "Spare" is expected to cause even more tension in the British monarchy. The title of the book itself comes from an old saying in royal circles: that the first son is the heir to titles, power and wealth, and the second, therefore, is a spare (spare), if something happens to the first. "Why did he write the book?" has been one of the most discussed questions on the internet.
Prince Harry defined the decision to write an autobiography as his last resort, prompted by the fact that the royal family did not listen to his concerns, especially regarding the coverage in the tabloid press.
"38 years of my story being told by so many different people with a deliberate twist - it seemed like a good time to own my story," he told ITV's Tom Bradby. “I … [have] done everything I can privately to talk to my family. And the saddest thing about this, Tom, is that it was never meant to be. We should never have gotten to this point."
He told CBS' Anderson Cooper that "none of what I've written...is meant to hurt my family," but the book should destroy "this idea that somehow my wife was the one who destroyed the relationship between these two brothers".
Harry told ITV that criticism of his decisions to write the book was misplaced: "I'm not sure how honesty is burning bridges [of communication]. Silence only allows the abuser to abuse.”
