Her fashion house shared the news in a tweet, saying the fashion icon died peacefully surrounded by family in Clapham, London.
Westwood was born on April 8, 1941 and was known for her punk style and the new wave she brought in the 70s, as well as for her activism and support of causes (such as global warming), which she also combined with her fashion and creations.
She quickly became an icon and her innovations were embraced by fashion admirers all over the world.
