A woman decided to turn her dog into the Grinch by painting it green and people accused her of animal abuse.
On TikTok, Ashley Spielmann, a 37-year-old mother of five, shared several videos of herself smiling in an attempt to resemble the iconic Christmas character.
In the video with over 10 million views, comments such as:
"Ok, this looks like animal abuse", "I feel so bad, he looks so sad", "Just because you can doesn't mean you should", "They made it so dirty, it's too much", etc. .
In a follow-up video , Spielmann assured everyone that her puppy is happy and that everyone is taking care of him, but that still didn't convince followers.
In conclusion, is it wrong to paint a dog?
Although cleaning processes are necessary for animals, unnatural beauty procedures that do not benefit an animal's health and well-being should never be performed - there is simply too much risk and is absolutely unnecessary. Forcing an animal to endure this kind of suffering is not fashionable - it's abusive.
It is well documented and researched that the ingredients in paints cause irreparable damage to the dog's immune system. They can also cause allergic reactions, skin diseases and cancer.
