A new concept in French nightlife recently opened in Paris: Diva Paris, the first nightclub exclusively for women. Created by three women who wanted a safe, fun space free from harassment or prejudice, the club has already become a phenomenon and is packed every week.

For a price of 45 euros, participants benefit from food, an open bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as three hours of non-stop dancing, all in an environment where they feel free and unjudged.

"We needed a night to ourselves, a break from work, parenting, and the daily grind. We needed to dance without the pressure to please or impress anyone, and come home at a reasonable time, without fear," said Constance d'Amécourt, one of the founders.

She, along with friends Lucie de Gourcuff and Constance Fabry-Damour, created Diva Paris with the goal of allowing women to “leave their problems at the door and enjoy a few hours on the dance floor.”

This concept came in response to the worrying increase in incidents in nightclubs in France and England. In this climate of insecurity, many women choose not to go out into the city center to have fun, but to stay at home.

The club, located in Paris, welcomes women from all areas, from the suburbs to the center, sometimes dressed in elegant clothes, sometimes in more simple outfits. They all come together for an evening of dancing and relaxation.

Although Diva Paris is not the first women-only nightclub (the first is believed to have opened in London in 2019), it is part of an ever-growing movement across Europe and the US.

“Mama Geht Tanzen” organizes similar events in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, while in Britain and America clubs such as “Mums That Rave” (created by DJ and producer Nikki Beatnik) and “Earlybirds Club” in the US are gaining popularity. In Houston, inside the C. Baldwin Hotel, there is even a secret women-only bar, while in Portland, Oregon, an annual party is organized exclusively for mothers.

This new wave of entertainment is part of a phenomenon called “soft clubbing,” a quieter, healthier alternative to traditional nightlife. Parties that last until midnight, less alcohol, and more focus on social connection, music, and well-being.

It seems that the future of entertainment for women is safer, more inclusive, and a lot more fun.
