Kanye West has spoken out about the controversy surrounding Balenciaga's latest campaign.
Once one of Balenciaga's biggest supporters and collaborators, Kanye West called on celebrities to denounce the luxury brand, which cut ties with the rapper in October after his anti-Semitic comments .
Balenciaga's latest campaign featured children carrying teddy bags (with similar details of S&M, sadism and masochism associated with the practice of violence during sex). Another photo showed a bag on top of some documents related to child pornography cases.
"It just goes to show that all celebrities are controlled. You don't see any celebrities talking about the Balenciaga situation," West said (via TMZ ) after being asked by the paparazzi. "All these celebrities, don't let them influence you in any way because they controlled by the people who really control the world," he added. "They are not serving God."
His ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, who is a Balenciaga ambassador, said she is reevaluating her relationship with Balenciaga after the online criticism and was shocked by the disturbing footage.
Bella Hadid, who posed in a brand campaign, deleted the photos from Instagram. Nicole Kidman, who also appeared in the ad, still has the photos, although many commentators have called for her to respond.
