Kim Kardashian says she's reevaluating her relationship with Balenciaga after online criticism of her latest campaign photo shoot . Kim, who has been a Balenciaga ambassador, broke her silence on Sunday after receiving a barrage of messages from fans and commenters asking her to denounce the brand.
Kardashian said she waited to respond "not because I'm not upset and angry by Balenciaga's recent campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to talk to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened."
She further said that as a mother she was "shocked by the disturbing images ".
"The safety of children should be treated with the highest respect and any attempt to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society. Period." she told her 74.2 million Twitter followers.
"I appreciate Balenciaga removing the campaign and apologizing. After speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the matter and will take the necessary measures to ensure this never happens again," she added.
"I am reassessing my relationship with the brand, based on their willingness to accept responsibility for something that should never have happened in the first place - and the actions I expect from them to protect children."
Balenciaga apologized and deleted the latest campaign featuring children carrying teddy bags (with similar details of S&M, sadism and masochism related to the practice of violence during sex). Another photo showed a briefcase on top of some documents from the Supreme Court related to child pornography cases.
Many people considered Balenciaga's approach to marketing "disgusting". "I understand that a lot of Balenciaga's marketing is about hitting campaigns, but this is just disgusting."
