Fans are convinced that Gisele Bündchen mocked Tom Brady in the statement announcing the divorce.
Keen social media users noted the supermodel's specific choice of words in her statement, which seemed to make it clear that she has always put her family first - unlike Brady, who reportedly chose football instead of saving the marriage.
"With great gratitude for the time we spent together, Tom and I have decided to divorce. My priority has always been and will be the children we have together. We will continue to co-parent to give the children what they deserve," said Gisele.
In an interview with Elle magazine published in September, Giseleu expressed that she had "concerns" about her husband's return to the football field after he first retired last year (and then reversed the decision).
"This is a very violent sport and I have my own children and I would like him to be more present," Bündchen said. "I've definitely had these conversations with him over and over. But at the end of the day, I think everybody has to make a decision that works for them. He also has to follow what makes him happy."
On the "Let's Go!" podcast, Brady noted the impact of work on his life.
"I've gone 23 years without celebrating Christmas and 23 years without celebrating Thanksgiving, I haven't celebrated birthdays with people I care about who were born between August and the end of January. And I'm not able to be at funerals, I'm not able to I'm at weddings," he said. "I think there comes a point in your life where you say, 'You know what? I'm done and it's time to move on and move on to other parts of life.'
Brady and Bündchen were married on February 26, 2009, in an intimate Catholic ceremony in Santa Monica, California. Together they have two children, son Benjamin Rein and daughter Vivian Lake.
