Matthew Perry apologized for a mistake in his memoir.
There was a lot of backlash on social media after the publication of an excerpt from his upcoming book, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, in which Perry talks about the death of his actor friend River Phoenix in 1993 and refers to another actor , Keanu Reeves.
"River was a beautiful man, inside and out - too beautiful for this world, gone. It always seems like the really talented guys get away," Perry wrote. "Why do original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath die Ledger, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?"
Perry then apologized.
"I'm actually a big fan of Keanu Reeves. I just picked a random name, my mistake,” he said in a statement to People. "I apologize. I should have used my name instead."
