
Thousands of protesters in Prague demand the resignation of the government, due to the economic crisis
Thousands of people gathered in central Prague yesterday (Friday) to protest against the centre-right government, blaming it for rising prices in the country and "an excessive focus on the war in Ukraine."
The protest was organized by the far-right First Movement party and coincided with the October 28 national holiday commemorating the founding of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918. Protesters in Prague's Wenceslas Square called for the resignation of the government .
"They should stop worrying about a fight between big countries, let them do what they want. I want us to be independent, to start taking care of ourselves, of our country." said one of the protesters.
The country of 10.5 million people is struggling with rising inflation, which reached 18 percent in September.

Floods in the Philippines: 42 people die
The death toll from floods and landslides in the southern Philippines has risen to 42, while rescue teams are searching for dozens of missing people, a senior government official announced yesterday.
Bangsamoro Southern Autonomous Region Interior Minister Nagib Sinarimbo expressed fears that many people are still trapped in the mud and floodwaters on the Philippine island of Mindanao.
He added that rescue operations have been temporarily suspended overnight and will resume this morning.
