In just two weeks, Kanye West has been dropped from his label, fashion brands such as Balenciaga and Adidas , and other partnerships due to recent offensive comments about black people and Jews . He is no longer on the Forbes list of billionaires.
Forbes stated that his net worth went from $1.5 billion to $400,000. The remaining $400 million of his net worth comes from real estate, cash, music and a 5% stake in ex-wife Kim Kardashian's Skims firm.
After Balenciaga, Adidas ended its partnership with Kanye, which cost him billionaire status. In the official statement, Adidas said that it does not tolerate any kind of hate speech and labeled Kanye's comments as "unacceptable, hateful and dangerous".
Kanye has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has spoken out about his illness, although medical experts and lawyers warn that his comments and mental health struggles are separate issues.
It's not the first time Kanye has faced controversy. Since 2016, he has faced a number of criticisms: for publicly supporting Donald Trump; has said that "slavery is a choice"; was photographed in public wearing a "White Lives Matter" T-shirt; said that jews control world finance and media etc.
