It seems the time has come for a rebrand and a new icon for Microsoft Office.
"In the coming months, Office.com, the Office app for mobile, the Office app for Windows will become the Microsoft 365 app, with a new icon, a new look, and even more features." - announced the company.

The names of individual programs, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, will not change. Microsoft has also assured customers that the change will not affect their accounts and that an app update will automatically change the icon and name.
The rebranding announcement comes just months after Microsoft shut down Internet Explorer after nearly 30 years of service. The software package was first introduced by Bill Gates in 1988.
