The 5 pounds and 50 pence coins will have a new face: that of King Charles III.
The coins were made by the British sculptor Martin Jennings and were approved by the "new" king himself, and to respect tradition, his portrait is placed on the opposite side to that of Queen Elizabeth II.

The coins also have a Latin inscription that revolves around the portrait of Charles and has the meaning: "King Charles III, with the blessing of God, Defender of the Faith".
These coins will be in circulation from the end of the year.
