What does autumn represent? 7 symbols you should know

It's officially fall. While you're looking for that warm scarf or jacket, think about this season...It's so much more symbolic than just some falling leaves. In ancient cultures, science and astrology, autumn is associated with some interesting symbols that show the fantastic influence that nature has on us.

1. Change

As the Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, "the only thing permanent is change." Autumn is here to remind us that the body, mind and everything around us is always changing, evolving. This season focuses on life as temporary and how important and vital is the present lived properly. By remembering this one can escape and enjoy the moment before it is gone (withers and falls like leaves in autumn).

2. The mystery

Every day represents a new mystery. Fresh air and leaves that change color and then fall are symbols of the unknown. Once you accept these unknowns, you find the ability and courage to live life to the fullest.

3. Storage

Autumn also represents the preservation of life and efforts to meet the needs we have. During this period the animals prepare to provide food for the winter and by creating warm spaces to shelter during the extreme cold. Farmers work gathering their crops while people prepare the house to make it more livable and comfortable through the cold season.

4. Protection

People start dressing thicker and eating better to take care of their metabolism and health. Autumn doubles the need to protect ourselves and the environment around us.

5. Comfort

On the other side of the coin, autumn also represents comfort. This season, together with the decrease in temperatures, is crucial for calmness, peace and enjoyment of nature in all its transitions.

6. Balance

The days and nights are equal in autumn until the nights get longer... The autumnal equinox represents balance so it is a very good time to deal with our spiritual part and be in harmony with the Earth.

7. Let things go

Autumn illustrates the beauty of letting go...Sometimes when things have completed their process/mission it's good to let them go. It makes us more aware to realize that everything around us is temporary, just like the seasons themselves.
