Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady, who married in 2009, are going through a difficult time.
The soccer player and the model are facing some "marital issues," a source close to the couple told CNN. The two are currently "living apart," another source close to Bündchen said.
Brady took an 11-day break from practice in August "to deal with personal things," according to his trainer Todd Bowles.
In an interview with Elle magazine published this week, Gisele, 42, said she had "concerns" about her husband's return to the field after first pulling out last year (and then reversing the decision).
"This is a very violent sport and I have my own children and I would like him to be more present," Bündchen said. "I've definitely had these conversations with him over and over. But at the end of the day, I think everybody has to make a decision that works for them. He also has to follow what makes him happy."
On the Let's Go! podcast, Brady noted the impact of work on his life.
"I've gone 23 years without celebrating Christmas and 23 years without celebrating Thanksgiving, I haven't celebrated birthdays with people I care about who were born between August and the end of January. And I'm not able to be at funerals, I'm not able to I'm at weddings," he said. "I think there comes a point in your life where you say, 'You know what? I'm done and it's time to move on and move on to other parts of life.'
Brady and Bündchen were married on February 26, 2009, in an intimate Catholic ceremony in Santa Monica, California. Together they have two children, son Benjamin Rein and daughter Vivian Lake.
