We often say that the use of make up blocks the pores, does not let the skin breathe and therefore causes dirt or acne. So taking a break from it seems more than necessary, but how true is that?
If you need a few days or a week without applying makeup to clean your face, it's not because your skin needs to "breathe". Skin doesn't do that.
If you notice something wrong with your skin, it's because you're using the wrong cosmetic products or you're not washing your face every night, or both.
Light breakouts on the face may mean it's time to change the cosmetic brand or even the formula itself. Look for products labeled "noncomedogenic," which usually don't contain ingredients of an irritating nature or a salicylic acid foundation that fights pimples on the face.
No matter what you use, a washer that is used every night is non-negotiable. Your skin sheds dead cells at night, and additional products can interfere with this process, causing breakouts, accelerating aging and causing a tired look. So you can wear makeup every day, you just have to wash it off every night.
More than make up, the skin needs maintenance.
