Meta has banned influencer Andrew Tate from Facebook and Instagram for violating the platforms' policies.
The former kickboxer shot to fame in 2016 when he was booted from TV show Big Brother over a video in which he appeared to assault a woman.
At the time of his Big Brother exit, Tate said the video had been edited, calling it "a total lie trying to make it look bad".
However, the 35-year-old continued to gain internet fame. For the first time, he has been blocked from Twitter, when he wrote that "women should be held accountable for sexual abuse against them".
In June of this year, Tate had 1 million followers on Instagram. Now, he had about 4.7 million followers. The rapid growth in audience probably came after it went viral on TikTok, with people supporting it and others criticizing it massively.
Meta said it had removed Andrew Tate from the platform after he violated policies related to "dangerous organizations and individuals," but did not provide further details.
According to Marianna Spring, the BBC's misinformation and social media correspondent, Andrew Tate's videos - which promote prejudice and misogyny - have caught the eye this summer with teenagers commenting on how much he is appearing on their social media feeds.

These are *very* few of the things Andrew Tate has said in his many videos.
