Ukrainian and Russian officials reported bombings near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Europe's largest, and both sides continue to blame each other. A regional official from Russia said 25 heavy artillery strikes from US-made M777 howitzers had hit near the plant and residential areas. Ukraine said it was Russian forces that had bombed the city in an attempt to make it look like Ukraine was attacking it.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has asked the world not to "lose it to terrorism" or "surrender to nuclear blackmail... "If Russia's actions cause a catastrophe, the consequences can hit even those who are silent now"- u he said during the last speech.

Three civilians were killed and two were injured by an explosive device while swimming in the Black Sea in Ukraine's southern Odesa region. People working at a construction site reportedly ignored barriers and warning signs at a beach in Belhorod-Dnistrovskyi district and went swimming in the sea. Three men aged 25, 32 and 53 died and another man and woman were injured.

The British Army is training 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers in marksmanship, battlefield first aid, etc. British trainers aim to turn young recruits into battle-ready soldiers within weeks. The first batch arrived last month and has already returned to replenish depleted Ukrainian units. Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the Nordic countries have also sent coaches to prepare future fighters.

The Moscow-appointed administration in Ukraine's Kherson region plans to hold a referendum on September 11, according to Kremlin sources. Referendums are also planned in three other Ukrainian regions - Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia - where Moscow aims to annex the territories and declare them a new region of Russia.
