Amber Heard's lawyers have called for a retrial alleging "improper jury service".
In documents filed Friday, the actress' legal team said "newly discovered facts and information" about a juror meant a mistrial should be declared. Lawyers said one of the individuals originally called to serve in the trial failed to appear and was replaced by someone else.
"It is deeply troubling that an individual who has not been called for jury duty would appear for jury duty and serve on a jury, particularly in a case like this," they said. "This was a high-profile case."
"Therefore, Ms. Heard's due process was compromised," the documents state. "Under these circumstances, a mistrial must be declared and a new trial ordered."
Depp sued his ex-partner over a 2018 article she wrote for the Washington Post in which she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse.
