"Inventing Anna" actress Julia Garner has been offered the role of Madonna in a biographical film about the artist. Garner and her team are considering accepting the role, and sources for Variety say "the answer is yes."
Other actresses reportedly considered for the role include Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie and Odessa Young, along with musicians Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira.
There is currently no deadline for the project and no other cast members have been announced.
A Garner spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The film itself will be directed by Madonna.
The news about the biographical film was first published in 2020.
"I want to follow the extraordinary journey that my life has taken as an artist, musician, dancer - human being," Madonna told Fox.
The focus of the film will be music.
"There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better than me can tell them. It is essential to share my journey and vision with you."
