The symptoms of diabetes - a disturbing but common medical condition - can occur over time or can appear quickly. Different types of diabetes can have similar or different signs.
Warning symptoms are:
- extreme thirst
- dry mouth
- frequent urination
- hunger
- fatigue
- nervous behavior
- blurred vision
- wounds do not heal quickly
- itchy skin or dry skin
- yeast infections.
Other warning signs of type 1 diabetes:
- Sudden weight loss
- Yeast infection in pre-pubertal girls
- Flu-like symptoms, including vomiting, bad breath, difficulty breathing, and loss of consciousness.
Other warning signs of type 2 diabetes:
- persistent infections or wounds that heal slowly
- heart problems
- complications associated with high blood sugar.
