The Kalush Orchestra, the Ukrainian group that won Eurovision this year, has sold the trophy for $ 900,000 to raise money for the war in Ukraine.

The crystal microphone was put up for auction on Facebook, with the aim of buying drones for the Ukrainian army. The media reports that the money raised from the sale of the trophy will be used to buy three Ukrainian-made PD-2 drones.

Drones are widely used by Ukrainian and Russian forces, both as weapons and as reconnaissance aircraft.

The sale coincided with the band's appearance at a charity concert at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. At the concert, band member Oleh Psiuk called on people not to get used to the war.

"I think [war] should always be on the front pages, until peace comes," Psiuk said.
