Depp-Heard trial ends: When is the bloody verdict handed down?

The trial of Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard ended on Friday, when both sides gave closing arguments after seven weeks of public hearings.

Seven of the 11 lawyers selected for the trial that started in April spent several hours discussing but did not make a decision and it seems they will not do so for at least a few days. Judge Penney Azcarate said the talks would resume on Tuesday. At the moment, it is unclear when lawyers will reach a decision.

The legal team for Heard, the defendant in the case, told lawyers to "think about the message Mr. Depp and his lawyers are sending to Amber and the victims of domestic abuse."

"If you did not take the picture, it did not happen," said Benjamin Rottenborn. "If you did not seek medical attention, you were not injured." Depp, he said, "can not and will not take responsibility ... it's someone else's fault".

He told lawyers that "if Amber was abused by Mr. Depp even once, then she wins… and we're not just talking about physical, psychological… sexual abuse."

Johnny Depp's lawyer, Camille Vasquez, told lawyers that Heard had "ruined her life by lying to the world that she was a survivor of domestic abuse." There is no record of Mr Depp acknowledging that "It struck Ms. Heard. It does not exist. It did not happen," said Camille.

Vasquez said Heard's allegations of violence were "a horrific act of cruelty" against "true survivors of domestic abuse". Vasquez also mentioned that Amber Heard gave the "performance of her life" and pretended to cry while there were no tears. She also added that no one (except paid experts) testified about Amber except her sister, unlike Johnny Depp about whom many other people testified.
