Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said Russian troops "are very close to the capital" warning of "a difficult night" for the city.
"The situation is now quite threatening for Kiev, without exaggerating it at all. Night and morning will be difficult. Sabotage groups are neutralizing the military. The bridges are in defence and the capital is in special contrroll." - Klitschko said.
He added that hospitals in the Ukrainian capital are operating record time as the state of war requires and that everything is being done to protect Ukraine.
Meanwhile, CNN reports that U.S. intelligence is concerned that Kiev could fall into Russian contraroll in a few days.
The US promises to provide aid to Ukraine, but is still "being worked on how this security will be achieved".
"We are very involved in all this and are making efforts to help them as much as we can." - Kirby said during a press statement at the Pentagon.
