After a series of demands, Eurovision Song Contest organisers decided to exclude Russia from Participating in Eurovision. The news was made known by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organises the competition.
"Such a decision has been taken in view of the concern created by the unprecedented crisis currently taking place in Ukraine. Russia's involvement in such a competition would create distrust and conflicts during the event."

In addition to excluding Eurovision, Russia took another blow, being suspended by the Council of Europe.
With the start of the war in eastern Ukraine, Russia has shown that it does not adhere to international law and therefore has nothing to ask of the Council of Europe. This led EC members to make the immediate decision to exclude him from the right of representation.
