What can persuade a person to leave the current job for a new job or position in another company? A recent Gallup poll - the American analytical company known for public opinion polls conducted around the world - asked 13,000 employees about reasons that might persuade them to change jobs.
In order of importance, the employees said that if they were looking for a job today they would have priority:
1. Income and benefits: The study found that the main factor that respondents said they would like in a new position was a "significant increase in income or benefits", which 64% cited as very important.
2. Work-life balance: The category "work-life balance and well-being" has also increased in importance, with 61% of respondents saying that these factors are "very important".
3. Opportunity to focus on strengths: 58% of respondents said it was important for them to find a role that "allowed them to do what they know how to do best". Recruiters need to make extra efforts to understand what really motivates a candidate for the job.
4. Safety at work: Some things never change, especially now after two volatile years due to the pandemic.
5. Vaccination: Vaccination policies should be in line with jobseekers' beliefs.
6. Inclusiveness: Employees want change when it comes to a company's ongoing commitment to having a culture of inclusiveness. Recruiters should be prepared to discuss changes and commitments in this area.
