"The global number of new cases fell by 19% from the number reported last week, while the number of new deaths remained similar to last week," the WHO said in its weekly epidemiological update.
The pandemic peaked in late January with over 22 million cases. In addition to the reduction in positive cases, a steady increase in Omicron variant BA.2 has also been observed.
