Gucci has been harshly criticized on social media after the announcement of the new campaign, at the center of which was the Chinese New Year, which in 2022 coincides with the "Year of the Tiger".
There were real tigers in the campaign presentation and this revolted the people who criticized the brand for the “bad” example they set. The new collection was introduced under the name "GucciTiger" in which in addition to clothing and accessories for men and women included the tiger and wild cats that stood next to the models.
Although in describing the photos Gucci stressed that "nature and wildlife are particularly important to the brand", they did not escape criticism at the center of which it was said that animals are not decorative accessories.

"It's not good to include wildlife in marketing. You used a lot of them for advertising," most comments said.
In response, the famous Italian brand said that the animals were not part of the photo set and that they were photographed in environments separated from the models without being injured or taken out of their safety zone.
Neither the argument that the footage was taken in separate environments convinced the people nor the animal protection organizations.
"We urge Gucci to stop capturing wildlife through their campaigns. Tigers belong to their wildlife. The Year of the Tiger should raise awareness that these wonderful animals are being protected and respected even more." expressed representatives of World Animal Protection (WAP).
