Hueyda El Saied never spoke about the illness that took her life, though indirectly she gave strong messages, which today more than ever make sense.
The artist passed away due to breast cancer at an advanced stage, a disease that may explain her decision to have her hair cut earlier this year. Back then, people commented endlessly on why he decided to cut the curls that had characterized him since adolescence.
"Jooo, all those beautiful curls", "How dare you", "What! All those curls? ” were some of the comments, among many others that pointed out that she looked better with long hair.
"Please, you wrote me a lot, 'grow your hair', 'you had the most beautiful long hair', 'we miss your curls', etc., etc. I do not just want compliments from you, I need your advice. But you have to understand one thing: Currently, with these short hair I feel very good, "Hueyda said in the comments.
"Aren't you sick?" someone asked, a question to which Hueyda answered "yes". She wrote that if there was a magic wand and "I would have the opportunity to change my life or my physical appearance, you should be sure that I would not start with hair".
At a time when people were dealing with hair, Hueyda was battling cancer and her message reminds us today how careful we must be with words, no matter how unintentional or superficial because with or without consciousness we can hurt anyone suffering at any moment.
Sometimes, or always, if we do not have something good to say, we better not say anything.
