Bread has a relatively short shelf life. Homemade bread lasts only three to four days and store-bought bread lasts about a week, although it is no longer as soft / fresh or warm as in the early days. But according to a bread maker, Emilie Raffa, the way you store bread makes a big difference in terms of how long the quality is stored.
According to her, keeping cool comes from avoiding three things: Heat, excess moisture and air. This will prevent the fresh bread from becoming moldy. Raffa suggests not keeping it near a place that is next to the stove or refrigerator.
According to Emilie, the best way to store it is in a paper or plastic bag, but loosely, at room temperature. A completely sealed bag will block the necessary moisture, allowing the mold to grow quickly.
Raffa also says that different types of bread have different shelf lives.
She adds that even stale bread can be used for many recipe ideas, so do not throw away anything you can afford.
