In an interview today for Euronews Albania, the Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, spoke about the new academic year in schools and universities.
Among other things, she said that the teaching hours in the schools that are on shifts will be from 30 minutes and not 45, as they usually take place. However, she stressed that the reduced schedule is offset by the reduced number of students. Some schools will continue teaching in this way, ie in two shifts, due to the pandemic.
As she mentioned the completed lesson, where she said that there is a program for her and that the schools have acted according to their specific needs, she added "even this school year, all teachers will be paid for extra hours.
This school year, 29,300 students will sit in school for the first time, although there may be other registrations on the first day of school. Compared to last year, the number of students in the first grades has decreased by 1300.
Regarding university teaching, Evis Kushi said that "the new academic year will start with a physical presence in the auditorium, but only for students and professors who are vaccinated".
Students who submit a negative PCR test once every 2 or 3 days may also enter the auditorium .
The Minister stressed that there is no decision from the Ministry of Education to vaccinate students, as these are decisions taken by the Committee of Experts. Regarding the ban on unvaccinated students from entering the auditorium, she said that regulations and practices will be established by universities for this process.
