'Britney vs Spears': The next documentary about Britney, this time from Netflix!

A new documentary about the custody of Britney Spears is coming to Netflix. This week, the company slightly excited followers with the teaser of the upcoming project, posted on Twitter. The 18-second clip features a recording of the singer leaving a message for her lawyer in 2009, a year after custody began. According to Variety, the documentary directed by Erin Lee Carr has been in development for a year and will feature important “key figures” in Britney's life. The full trailer for "Britney vs Spears" is expected to be released today, September 22nd.

The announcement comes weeks after Britney's father, Jamie Spears, suddenly filed a petition to end his 13-year custody on Sept. 7.

Last year, Britney expressed her concern with documentaries about her life. Following the release of Hulu: "Framing Britney Spears" in February, she admitted that she cried for two weeks over the documentary and was "ashamed of her attention".

The singer has made similar remarks about the release of the BBC documentary "The Battle For Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship", calling the production "hypocritical".

"They criticize the media and then do the same," Britney wrote at the time. 

This time, perhaps Netflix has taken Spears' comments into account and focused less on media reporting about her life and more on what the singer has said in recent months about her custody.
