Starting from October 1, for the academic year 2021-2022 onwards, public higher education in Kosovo will be free. This applies not only to local students, but also to foreign students wishing to study in Kosovo.
Bachelor and master students will not pay a fee to complete their studies. The decision, signed by the Minister of Education in Kosovo, Arbërie Nagavci, was made public by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Minister herself.
"We believe that in this form we will stimulate interest in higher education, improving the overall educational level of the population [...]", said Albin Kurti.
He stressed that the decision benefits all categories of society, including students from countries in the region.
The Minister added:
"In this way we avoid discrimination due to social inequality, but we are also ensuring the preservation of quality in higher education."
It was also said that there will be facilities for doctoral students as well.
