Have you ever communicated with someone who seems to feel like a "god among men"? Such people are sometimes described as having the "complex of God." This term is not a genuine diagnosis or a clinical term, but is often used and has some indicative signs.
What does it mean for someone to have the "complex of God"? Simply put, it means overestimating oneself, one's abilities, and one's rights over others. A person with this complex thinks that he is the smartest, the best, his reality is reality, his experience is experience in general and so on.
These people tend to display extreme arrogance with little or no respect for others and justify the actions they take.
Are they narcissists? They are not very different, they have common features. Often when people describe someone with the God complex they refer to someone who may have features of narcissistic personality disorder.
Having such a complex is not a diagnostic condition (i.e., it is not a condition listed in the Mental Disorders Diagnostic and Statistical Manual), but narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is. Someone diagnosed with NPD will certainly exhibit some signs of God complex, but someone with God complex does not necessarily have NPD.
In some cases, psychologists describe it as a special kind of narcissism.
